Cross Country State Championship

The Poston Butte Cross Country team competed in the AIA State Championships on Saturday. Shaydin Steers, a Freshman, represented the girls cross country team. She was able to hit a personal best. From mile one to mile three she moved up 44 spots and set a personal record finishing the race 53rd in a field of over 160 runners.  As for the boy's team, it was represented by Gabrial Escanuela, Justin Escanuela, Kaeden Christenson, Anthony Soria, Leo Sosa Guererro, Wyatt Zurfluh, and Eddie Sanchez. After the first mile, our team was in 6th place. Around the 2nd mile, they were able to push themselves into 4th place as a team. The boys ran hard throughout the whole race, and reached the finish line holding position their position as 4th place in the State of Arizona. This secured the Broncos highest finish ever. Not only did the Broncos succeed as a team but as individuals. Gabrial Escanuela was able to secure the first ever cross-country medal in Bronco history finishing 6th place. Justin Escanuela placed 47th, Kaeden Christenson placed 63rd, Anthony Soria placed 67th, Leo Sosa Guererro placed 71st, Wyatt Zurfluh placed 139th, and Eddie Sanchez placed 222nd.
