We had our 2nd field trip as we mentioned before, and this mission was plenty of new emotions! Not only we had a fantastic and generous collaboration from expert ornithologist Johana Zuluaga-Bonilla to increase our bird survey (news will be published soon), but we reviewed the trail cameras we had placed a month ago in July, and guess what? - Yes!, we had lovely and very emotional captures in there.
In total, we had placed 4 cameras on site, one of them didn't work unfortunately (it showed a faulty functioning and it was very sad and frustrating not to have its images), but the three others worked out well and they captured 630 valid images all together! (every triggering had 3 photos per detected movement, so it represented 210 animal crossings in front of the cameras - some of them were quite photogenic and had numerous shots per individual though). Not bad for only a month of activity in the field, isn't it?
We are now processing all those files to have them organized and well identified, so once we have a summary report of this we will be sharing it here in our blog.
Meanwhile, let's enjoy this outstanding sample of two medium-sized mammals we all didn't know we had as honoured guests in our reserve:
