Goals for 2030. Let's see below in which SDGs our project La Hondura Canyon 'Civil Society Natural Reserve' is aiming to contribute. We show those where we think our contribution can be more significant, but we recognise the interconnection among them all.
Yes we're aiming to help on targets for no-poverty in the surrounding region of our project (and reducing it in the municipality of Gámbita), by providing a number of opportunities for locals, through new economy sources that our reserve can bring, by multiple services associated to tourism, and by gradual development of our premises.
Our project is aiming to provide examples of a positive relation to land, and part of it will include efforts to develop pilots for better agriculture and nutrition, helping to upgrade some local practices by bringing new knowledge (i.e. regenerative models). So we're contributing with targets of zero-hunger on this topic too, at a small scale but it counts.
Our reserve will provide numerous opportunities for people (locals and visitors) to learn and develop new stills, both technical and vocational. And this will be associated to tourism skills, but also environmental culture as a whole. Therefore we'll contribute to increase quality education's targets, related to nature and better tourism.
We're certainly determined to be a good example of no-discrimination at all against all women and girls. Women will have with us full and effective participation and equal opportunities in our project. In that particular sense, this goal will have our positive contribution too.
Protecting water and ecosystems related (forest, wetlands) is in the core of our project. This is one of the main purposes from our reserve's own goals. What we do in terms of taking care of water (both drinking sources and sanitation) should be seen as a distinction for us. Therefore no doubt we'll contribute to this goal as well.
Our project intends to provide a job-and-development opportunities for locals in the surrounding region. As a result of co-creation of the portfolio of services we are aiming to provide in the years to come. Despite of the small scale of our operation, diversification and encouragement of enterprises for the services we will have or need, will contribute to this goal.
By developing quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure in the small premises for our reserve and visitors centre, also on every addition we may need to complement it along, we are having this goal on a focus too, as a contribution to the general purposes of this agenda. We'll challenge ourselves on that, and hope to bring an example to the region.
In particular, we'll contribute to the target of empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status . Our project will be enriched with our own human diversity, in harmony with the biodiversity we're focusing on to protect with our reserve.
Despite of being titled and mostly oriented to cities and urban settlements, this goal has also a target of strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage. And this target is an important part of our objectives too, therefore we think to have a contribution there as well. La Hondura Canyon is, under our consideration, a valuable component of our natural heritage.
Being one target to achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources , this is clearly framed in our project's objective. As it is also a responsible waste management and involvement of stakeholders into sustainable purposes. But to provide an example in terms of a harmonious relation human-nature is probably our highlighted contribution to this goal.
This is and will be one of our priorities, with most targets mentioned under the goal, but mainly to improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning . La Hondura Canyon project will have a strong environmental culture component, aimed to be delivered all year long with a portfolio of activities, although a timeline for this will be gradual.
Targets of ensuring the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services, in particular forests, wetlands, mountains and drylands, in line with obligations under international agreements , or ensuring the conservation of mountain ecosystems, including their biodiversity, in order to enhance their capacity to provide benefits that are essential for sustainable development, are just part of our large agreement to contribute to this goal.
Transparency and responsibility at all levels of our actions is a mandate we all must comply in our project. Our goal will seek to be a positive example at demonstrating a correct way of doing business and get permanent improvement, all the time. It is fundamental and we are determined to strongly contribute on this goal too. In particular, target of ensuring responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels of our project, is key in our model.
