03.5.2021
Here with this post we want to make a visual summary of our fauna on trap cameras so far (#1), since we started placing them almost a year ago (in July, 2020). It has been an uninterrupted process of monitoring since then, although with a very limited number of equipments - our first 3 cameras were borrowed for a first pilot, then after returning them we had ready our own 3 cameras to continue, and currently we have two of these in our site (the third one is in a different location near by, to have a bit of exploration around our reserve too).
It's been a fantastic route of fauna discovery. With a rare excemption, these animals are not visible that easy, to the extent that not seeing them gives the impression of inexistent fauna! Therefore, this monitoring we are doing in La Hondura Canyon for the very first time has been like a great and happy WOW! every time we insert the camera's memory card in the computer to see what's new this time!
We now hope you enjoy this images with a similar wow-effect, and we of course are looking forward to prepare proposals and new steps ahead for our reserve's goals. Knowledge as a fundamental base to start building up our own path to upgrade conservation and restoration in our reserve, and in paralell to prepare our management plan aiming to have our visitor's centre in a short-to-mid term timeframe to spread up environmental culture and more conservation in our region, hand-in-hand with our local communities.
We will be adding details to every image little by little, with its adequate names and links for more to every animal, but this is a gradual process for us. If you happen to be an expert and want to give us a hand on this, do not hesitate to contact us! :)
Only one chosen image per species, however there are many more for some of them.
