Each applicant must be a dependent child of (1) active duty military or DOD civilian assigned to a military installation in San Antonio Area; (2) active duty Armed Services personnel on a short tour (remote) assignment whose family members remained in San Antonio area, (3) geographically separated family due to a non-sponsored assignment or for high school senior stabilization, (4) retired, POW/MIA or deceased Armed Services personnel wherein the family members reside in San Antonio area. C. Three scholarships will be awarded: Technical/Trade Vocational, Arts, PCS Hardship. Merit-based.
Scholarships for Military Children -Local Scholarship

Amount: $2,000
This scholarship is funded through contributions awarded to each Commissary location. Applicants must possess a valid ID card and parent serves or has served in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard. Applicant must plan to enroll in an accredited US college in the fall and must have a GPA of 3.0. Selection is based on academic achievement, participation in school, community, volunteer activities, work experience, and essay.
The Spouses' Club of the Fort Sam Houston Area Scholarship - Local Scholarship

The Spouses' Club of the Fort Sam Houston Area Scholarship is for a graduating senior who plans to attend a college, university, trade or technical school with a valid military ID, and dependent of an active duty or DOD civilian assigned to Fort Sam Houston, Camp Bullis or one of their tenant units. Essay, transcript, community service and recommendation letter.

Amount: Amount depends on student's need
To be eligible a student must be a dependent of a U.S. Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Guardsman or Marine who has: been killed in action, become 100% total & permanently disabled as a direct result of a combat mission, or suffered a major limb amputation due to enemy action. (Qualifying parent must have received an Honorable Discharge), been classified as a POW or (MIA), been awarded the Medal of Honor, the Navy Cross, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Air Force Cross, or the Coast Guard Cross, or been involved in a training accident that resulted in the death of the service member or caused an immediate inability to continue serving (100% total and permanently disabled).
Children of Warriors National Presidents' Scholarship

Candidates for this award shall be daughters, sons, grandsons, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, great-grandsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion: April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 or anytime after December 7, 1941. Applicant must complete 50 hours of community service while in high school.

Air Force Sergeants Association Scholarship Program

The Air Force Sergeants Association Scholarship Program is for Uniformed Services Dependent children pursuing undergraduate degrees. Sponsors must be Military members, Joint Services Enlisted and Commissioned Officers currently serving (Active duty, Retired or a Veteran of the military.
MG James Joseph Ursano Scholarship

Amount: $500 to $3,400
The MG James Ursano Scholarship Program is a need based scholarship to assist children of Army Soldiers. Student must be a dependent of a Soldier: federal active duty, retired, or deceased active or retired soldier. Student must be registered as a dependent in DEERS, GPA of 2.0, and must enroll as a full time student at an accredited post-secondary or vocational institution.

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship is a need based scholarship designed to fulfill a financial gap for children of US military members who died while on active duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001 or children of post 9/11 veterans assigned a disability rating of 50% or greater by the Department of Veterans Affairs. FAFSA must be completed.
Army Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

To be eligible a senior must have a 2.0 GPA and be a dependent of regular active duty, active duty Reserve, or active duty National Guard U.S. Army members in good standing or be a dependent of former U.S. Army members who received an honorable discharge or medical discharge, or who were killed while serving in the U.S. Army.
The Matthews & Swift Scholarship

The Matthew s & Swift Scholarship is available to children of members in good standing who are killed or permanently disabled, by hostile action, while serving in the U.S. armed forces in a combat zone designated as such by the Knights of Columbus Board of Directors; as well as the children of fulltime firefighters and law enforcement officers, who while in the lawful performance of their duties, died as a result of criminal violence directed at them. Air Force Aid Society - General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Program

Amount: $500-$4,000
AFAS education support and tuition assistance is available to dependent sons and daughters of active duty, Title 10 Reservists on extended active duty, Title 32 Guard performing full-time active duty, retired, retired Reserve and deceased Air Force members, as well as spouses of active duty and Title 10 Reservists, and widows/widowers. Application period opens in January.
