Make a list of what you want your business to do or offer. Make a list of possible names for your business. Make as many sketches or designs as you can. The more sketches you can make, the better. Find ways to 'fail faster.' Get through lots of bad ideas to find the few good ones! Make at least 10 logo sketches. They could either be drawn on paper or made digitally. It could be the business name, letters from the business name, symbols that represent the business, or an abstract design. Think about the different kids of logos: wordmarks, pictorials, and abstract iconography (or a combination!) The sky is the limit!
Choose one of your sketches to refine and work more on. Start with pencil and paper or skip right to the digital design step. *Tip* Logos should be able to work at small sizes, so you might have to simplify your design. If you're working on paper first, try making your logo fit inside a post-it note.
