Create a simple, chunky silhouette for the easier sewing. Color code your stencil to plan what colors you will need. (Don't forget the back!)
Cut out your stencil (using PAPER scissors). Use a pencil or chalk to trace your design onto two pieces of felt. Put your background felt scraps into the scrap bin.
Use felt from the scrap bins to create all the small details you will add to both the front and back of your plushie.
Stitch (or use fabric glue) to attach all of the detail that go on the front of your plushie. Make sure you are only working on your front piece of felt. Set the front aside when complete and repeat these same steps with any designs for the back.
Use a whip stitch, ladder stitch, or blanket stitch to attach all items.
After all details have been attached to both the front and back of your plushie, stitch the front and back together. Be sure to leave a small opening for stuffing. Once your plushie is stuffed, continue to sew it closed using a whip stitch.
