Students must be on track academically and have shown good attendance throughout their High School career. The district makes a financial commitment to BOCES when you are registered for the program so changes cannot be made after September 1st. All students will receive 2.25 credits for Career Technical Education, .50 credits for English, .50 credits for Math, .50 credits for Science each school year. *Integrated academic credits do not meet the NCAA Student-Athlete eligibility requirements.

ANIMAL SCIENCE I AND II (PR38 and PR39)
Exposes students to careers in the veterinary and animal management fields. This program teaches basic and advanced skills in nutrition, health and disease, animal handling and restraint, grooming, pet first aid and medical terminology.
AUTO TECHNICIAN TRAINING I AND II (PR04 and PR05)
Is now offered in partnership with Basil, NFADA, Northtown Automotive, Paddock Chevrolet, Towne Automotive and West Herr for an exciting pre-apprentice experience. Students will partake in extended job shadowing, paid summer internships, and be guaranteed a job interview upon completion of the program.
BAKING AND PASTRY ARTS I and II (PR45 and PR48)
Students discover all that goes into creating beautiful plated desserts as well as pastries, breads, cakes, cookies and more.
BUILDING TRADES I AND II (PR06 and PR07)
Students learn all aspects of the trade, from using hand and power tools, reading and understanding blueprints, rough framing and both interior and exterior finish.
COSMETOLOGY I AND II (PR10 and PR11)
Students are part of the exciting and fashionable world of beauty. Students hone their skills in the art and science of cutting, styling and coloring hair in our live clinic, which is open to the public.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE I AND II (PR 12 and PR 13)
Students explore the major areas of the field including law enforcement, courts, corrections, investigations and forensics, homeland security and private security.
CULINARY SKILLS I AND II (PR14 and PR15)
Brings new tastes and worldly adventures to the classroom every day. Students will spend their time preparing and serving meals that look as good as they taste.
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION I and II (PR50 and PR51)
Students run their own preschool and playgroups and participate in programs with the Buffalo Zoo, Children’s Hospital and the YMCA.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS I AND II (PR18 and PR19)
Students apply their knowledge of electrical technology to all phases of the industry. Instruction covers the principles of electricity, reading of blueprints and wiring diagrams, proper use of tools and equipment, basic principles of motor controls with ladder logic and emerging renewable technologies such as wind and solar power.
HEALTH CAREERS I AND II (PR24 and PR26)
Students devote their first to the study of all that is possible in the health care fields. The second year, known as Basic Nursing Skills, is focused on the practice of clinical skills required in the profession.
HEATING, VENTILATION & AIR CONDITIONING I AND II (HVAC) (PR36 and PR37)
Is a lucrative, high demand trade. In this program, students will learn the fundamentals of residential and light commercial plumbing heating and air conditioning installation, service and repair.
EXERCISE SCIENCE I AND II (PR08 and PR09)
Students turn their love of health and fitness into a career in one of the fastest growing industries in the country with careers in physical therapy, sports medicine and personal training.
WELDING I AND II (PR29 and PR30)
Students know that they hold much of the world together. From buildings and bridges to airplanes and equipment, the career path of a welder is full of opportunities.
AVIATION TECHNOLOGY I and II (HC01 and HC02)
Students experience flight firsthand along with the necessary maintenance procedures for today’s aircrafts. New this year, students will delve into the technology behind unmanned aircrafts as the world of aviation continually evolves.
BARBERING I and II (HC05 and HC23)
Students learn the art of barbering from experienced instructors, guest speakers and Master Barbers who currently work in the industry. Students as young as seventeen can obtain a Master Barber’s license by learning the NYS Board techniques and passing the NYS Master Barber’s practical exam.
COLLISION REPAIR I AND II (HC44 and HC45)
Is now offered in partnership with Auto Collision and Glass, iCar, Carubba Collision, Collision Masters, Gabe’s Collision, Basil and West Herr. Together with these partners, Erie I BOCES new Collision Repair program offers an exciting pre-apprentice program for students.
CYBERSECURITY AND NETWORKING I and II (HC06 and HC07)
Prepares students for the Network+ and Cisco CCNA certification exams while teaching network design, hardware programming and network security. Students will learn penetration testing and packet sniffing as a way to prevent unauthorized access to networks (hacking).
DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY I and II (HC08 and HC09)
Offers a complex combination of science, art and craftsmanship while producing dental restorations that replace natural teeth.
ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGIES I and II (HC14 and HC15)
Students explore the latest technology in personal computing, cellular communications, HDTV, virtual reality, Bluetooth, game mechanisms and car audio/video systems. Students use soldering irons, hand tools, meters and oscilloscopes to build computers, robots, amplifiers, speakers, wireless devices, power supplies and more.
ENGINEERING AND ROBOTICS I and II (HC16 and HC17)
Students learn how things work and build real mechanisms and components formulated from their own ideas to fulfill a need or concept. Students explore many areas of robotics manufacturing and engineering design using state-of-the-art computers, software, modeling and prototyping.
FASHION DESIGN AND MERCHANDISING I and II (HC18 and HC19)
Students learn how to dress, style and create current trends for clients based on design elements and the fashion cycle.
PLUMBING
Students will learn to cut and install various types of materials that are used within the field. Topics of study include: plumbing and professional safety, blue print reading, fixture assembly, codes, pressure, temperature and water heaters, and water supply systems, mains and wells.

ESPORTS MANAGEMENT AND GAME DEVELOPMENT I and II (CAL03 and CAL04)
Students will study the growing world of Esports while developing games and business strategies relevant to the industry in this two-year program
SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING (one year only - Seniors only!) (CAL05)
This one-year program is available to students who want to learn how to build a company's brand, increase sales in e-commerce, and drive website traffic. Please be advised, this course does NOT have the Integrated English, Math and Science credit.
VIDEO PRODUCTION AND RECORDING ARTS I and II (CAL06 and CAL07)
Is for creative students who love video, film, sound and music. While in the program, students learn to create and produce original films and music in our state-of-the-art lab.
WEB TECHNOLOGIES AND GAME PROGRAMMING I AND II (CAL08 and CAL09)
Is a fun and creative program that teaches students of all skill levels how to create dynamic Web sites. The foundations of programming are also covered and students learn how to plan the logic of game design.
New Visions Programs are for Seniors only. They require an application and interview. Students must provide their own transportation to the site. Students must attend the New Visions Information Night, which is generally hosted in January at the Harkness Center in order to apply for the programs. More information will be posted on the Frontier website when it becomes available.
CONNECTIONS: HEALTH RELATED CAREERS (PR31)
Connections: Health Related Careers is a 1-year, senior level, highly academic program that allows students to explore the field of healthcare and medicine while earning high school credits and exclusive access to local hospitals and medical experiences. Students will learn anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pathophysiology and disease as if affects individual health, as well as observe normal anatomy and physiology and disease process and treatment through clinical observation. Health care internships will provide opportunity for students to observe diverse medical professionals while participating in a clinical setting and apply theory to what is observed in the internship facility. Students spend the year at either the Buffalo General Medical Center, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and Oishei Children's Hospital working with medical professionals in the areas of their interest.
LEGAL ACADEMY (PR32)
The Legal Academy is a 1-year, senior level, highly academic program taught through Canisius University that allows students to explore career pathways related to the legal system while earning high school and college credits. Students will learn the foundations of law and the legal system, develop a network of professional connections through field experiences, and complete internships in political offices, courts, law offices, and more. Topics of study include criminal, family, and consumer law, lawmaking, torts, policing, freedoms and individual rights, and contemporary issues in law.
ZOO WILDLIFE AND CONSERVATION CAREERS (PR44)
Zoo Wildlife and Conservation Careers is a 1-year, senior level, highly academic program that allows students to explore the many careers related to zoo wildlife and conservation while earning high school and college credits. Students will learn about zoological care and animal sciences, experience the zoo’s day-to-day operations, ways to incorporate and educate about conservation, and correlate concepts of ELA, government, and economics as they relate to animal and conservation topics. Topics of study include conservation, animal husbandry, the evolution of zoos, animal ethics and welfare, basic animal behavior, veterinary care, exhibit design, horticulture, and zoo operations. Students in this program consider the 23-acre Buffalo Zoo their home and explore the many career possibilities in animal care, wildlife conservation and zoo operations.
DIESEL TECHNOLOGY (PR46)
Diesel Technology is a 1-year, senior level program that allows students to explore the field of the diesel industry while earning high school and college credits. Students will work on trucks and diesel engines and engage with professionals at the Conway Beam Truck Group site. Topics of study include: engine repair, lamps, accessories and wiring, welding, bearings and seals, engine removal, disassembly and installation, circuit fundamentals, wheel alignment, principles of hydraulics, and the parts and tools needed to build an engine. Erie 1 BOCES has partnered with Conway Beam to create an innovative classroom space at their Buffalo location on North America Drive in West Seneca. Students will learn all it takes to head into the industry with cutting edge tools and technology
EDUCATION PATHWAYS ACADEMY (PR47)
Education Pathways Academy is a 1-year, senior level, highly academic program taught at Buffalo State University that allows students to explore the field of education while earning high school and college credits. Students learn the fundamentals of education through both theory-based and experiential learning. The program functions to show educator candidates everything that education has to offer, and ultimately allows students to select and consider the areas they find most relevant and appealing. Topics of study include: classroom and behavior management, child and adolescent development, lesson planning and execution, data-driven instruction and assessment, social emotional learning and best teacher practice, and working with students with disabilities.
PLANT SCIENCE (PR52)
Plant Science is a 1-year, senior level, highly academic program that allows students to explore the field of horticulture and plant sciences while earning high school and exclusive, real world experience. Students will learn greenhouse management, plant and soil science, and landscape design. Topics of study include: the foundations of horticulture, plant cells and tissues, roots and soils, greenhouse management, watering and hydroponics, and native and invasive species. Students will engage in propagation techniques, integrated pest management (IPM), plant identification, and complete a variety of seasonal projects while on the grounds of the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens.
Depending on the program, students will be in attendance at Frontier High School only 2-3 periods a day.
