About Us

Meet our MAD staff...

I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.

-Oscar Wilde

My name is Amy Long. I am the fine arts/drama teacher at Frontier Academy Elementary, and I head up our elementary drama team! My passions lie in helping people understand how to communicate...be it through directing a play, helping students discover how to show feeling and ideas through movement, workshopping vocal techniques, or creating spaces where kids build confidence to stand in front of people. I also have a nerdy desire to revolutionize how arts are assessed authentically in classrooms and help other professionals see how arts can be a vehicle for transferring and synthesizing classroom learning. I continue to work with the Colorado Department of Education to further my research and have even worked with the American Alliance of Theatre Educators to benchmark the national theatre assessment for elementary students.

I am proud that I get to work with elementary students. Helping them find their expressions and voices at a young age gives them an excellent foundation to become master communicators and thoughtful media consumers as they reach older academic levels.
