Quality instruction in and about agriculture that utilizes a “learning by doing” philosophy.
All students are expected to have an agriculturally related work-based learning experience while enrolled in agricultural education courses.
FFA activities are an integral part of the agricultural education program that all agricultural education students should participate in if they are to fully benefit from their enrollment in the program.
Hello my name is Ellie Norris I am 16 years old and going into my Junior Year. This year I was granted the opportunity to serve as the McArthur FFA president. I am the 5th generation on my family's ranch where we have hay production and working on growing our herd of cattle up to better standards and genetics. We are currently working on putting embryos into our cows. I am very involved with many things within FFA. I am very involved with many of our public speaking opportunities, as a freshman I competed in creed and parliamentary procedure and as a sophomore I competed in prepared public speaking as well as Parliamentary procedure. I am involved with my SAEs such as hay production, cattle production, showing steers, and in the past I have shown swine. Outside of FFA I play two sports consisting of volleyball and basketball. I am very excited for our upcoming years and the opportunities that we will be able to seek. This year one of my goals for our 2023-2024 officer team is to grow as a chapter and get more kids involved so they get the amazing opportunities that I have been able to see myself. I hope to find a passion for many of our younger students within the FFA and Ag this upcoming year.
Hello my name is Noel Jacobson, I am 16 years old and entering my junior year. This year I am serving as the McArthur FFA Vice President. My family and I have a pumpkin farm here in the fall river valley. We have been doing this operation for 17 years now. We are trying to grow our farm so that way we can take our pumpkins to further places to inform others about our farm. This year I bred my first pig getting 6 piglets. I applied this past year for a proficiency award within our pumpkin farming. One of my SAE’s is also showing pigs. I have shown pigs for the past 7 years and I am currently working on breeding my pigs for the next couple of years while showing. Outside of FFA, I am involved in golf and hunting, and fishing. One of my goals this year is to attend the National Convention and meet many more people.
Hi, my name is Kaydence babcock and I am currently 15 years old and going into my Junior Year of high school. This year I was given the opportunity to serve McArthur FFA as the 2023-24 Chapter Secretary. Personally I have lived within the intermountain area my whole life and been going to the same school sense the 3rd grade. When it was finally time to join FFA I knew it was a must. Although at the time I was not extremely active in Agriculture it had always had a special connection with me sense I was little from the family ranch. Within the FFA I have grown a lot, and throughout my FFA experience I have been involved in various LDE teams and competitions, and SAE’s. The LDE teams I have been apart of are Novice and Advanced Parliamentary Procedure Teams as well as Opening and Closing Ceremonies. The individual competitions I have participated in are Creed and Impromptu. I plan to continue my public speaking career through Parliamentary Procedure and Extemporaneous competitions this coming year. My SAE’s include showing swine at the intermountain fair through McArthur FFA for the past two years and an Agriscience project through Ag Science I and Ag Science II classes. Although I am pretty busy throughout FFA I still like to be involved in sports through the school as well as enjoy riding dirtbikes in any freetime I may get. In my school career I play two different sports, volleyball and softball. In volleyball I am a middle hitter and in softball I am an outfielder. I can’t wait for this upcoming year and all the opportunities and memories it will come with!
Hello, my name is Olivia Peterson. I am sixteen years old and am a Junior in High School. This year I have been granted the opportunity to serve as the McArthur FFA Treasurer and I am beyond excited. Growing up I remember hearing stories from my Grandpa about how he was in FFA in the cold climate of Minnesota. My Grandpa was able to pass down his agricultural roots and experiences. Thus prompted my brother Evan, and myself to begin showing swine. Falling in love with the process, Evan and I showed pigs for six year's. Although the six years came to an end, I am forever grateful for the experiences, relationships created, and skills learned. Taking a break from the showing aspect of FFA allowed me to become a part of the speaking competitions. I am now a competitor in the Opening and Closing, Parliamentary Procedure, and Impromptu competitions. All of which have allowed me to become more confident and improve my public speaking skills. Outside of FFA I participate in Volleyball, Softball, and Basketball. I am also a Student Council member serving as an Activities Director. Fun Fact: two of my most favorite things are my family and the beach. This year is going to be full of many new and exciting changes. Something I look forward to most about this year is visiting Indianapolis with the rest of the officer team to attend the National Convention. A goal I have for myself this year is to encourage new members to become a part of the amazing organization and realize just how much fun FFA events can be. I am so excited to see what this year has in store for McArthur FFA!
Hello, My name is Hailey Hutchings. I am your 2023 - 2024 Chapter Reporter. I have been around agriculture my whole life. I grew up in the town of Fall River Mills. I grew up around horses, dogs, and many other animals. When I got the opportunity to join FFA my eighth grade year I was more than excited. FFA has had a huge impact on my life over these past few years. I have been granted many opportunities such as being the Chairman of the Advanced Parliamentary Procedure team. I have also competed in many other individual competitions such as Creed and Impromptu. I continue to advance my public speaking through Job Interview and Parliamentary Procedure Competitions. You might ask what I do outside of FFA? I love to rodeo and I have done it ever since the age of six. I started out by competing in many Jr. Rodeos then I moved onto competing for the California High School Rodeo Association District 1. I also attend Fall River Jr. Sr. High School and I will be going into my Junior year. I can’t wait for this upcoming year and all the opportunities.
This is my first year in FFA, but it is not the first time I have been around agriculture. My family has raised cows and sheep for many generations. I have been showing sheep since I was 9 years old at the Intermountain Fair. When the California FFA State Convention rolled around, I thought I would apply and I made the cut. When I got to state convention I realized how much fun FFA can be and that I wanted to be a state officer. When our Chapter election for office rolled around I ran and I was elected as Sentinel. I was thrilled and ready to get started. Outside of FFA I love sports. My favorite sport is Football. I also play other sports like wrestling, Track, and Trap. I am so happy that I joined FFA
