Mrs. Dixon grew up in Flower Mound, TX. She joined her middle school Orchestra in 6th grade and has been involved in Orchestra ever since. Inspired to be a music educator by her own middle and high school Orchestra directors, Mrs. Dixon earned her Bachelor of Music from The University of North Texas. She studied under Karrell Johnson and Dr. Rosita Goza, specializing in string pedagogy. Mrs. Dixon is currently working on her National Teacher candidacy and is in her 12th year of teaching.
Under her direction, Mrs. Dixon's students earn top chairs in Region Orchestras and consistent Superior ratings at UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contests. Her groups consistently earn 'Best in Class', 'Most Outstanding Orchestra', and 'Outstanding Section' awards in all five string sections at music festivals across North Texas. In 2014 her Varsity Orchestra was named a Commended Winner in the Mark of Excellence National Competition. Mrs. Dixon has been recognized as a Northwest ISD Profile of an Educator. She was also recognized with The Gene Pike Panther Award from the middle school student body as the school's most influential teacher and recognized by the 8th grade student body of Pioneer Heritage Middle School as the teacher "most obsessed with their subject".
As an active music educator, Mrs. Dixon has taught in Cedar Hill ISD, Northwest ISD, Lewisville ISD, and is currently the proud director at Pioneer Heritage Middle School in Frisco ISD. She instills a firm belief that music is co-curricular and encourages the physical, social, and emotional well-being of her students.
Mrs. Dixon is married to her wonderful husband, Boyd. They have two beautiful daughters, Claire (8) and Margaret (4), and a crazy chocolate lab named Rosie.
Dana Peck is a Performer and Educator passionate about sharing the harp. She often performs with orchestras and served as the Principal Harpist of the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra for several seasons. Dana attended the University of North Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance in 2023. During her time at UNT, she performed with the North Texas Wind Symphony, UNT Symphony Orchestra, and the UNT Concert Orchestra. She was a member of the UNT Harpbeats, which often performs arrangements by the group members around Texas, including a performance at TMEA in 2023. Dana loves teaching and passionately believes everyone can learn to play the harp. She teaches harp privately and was previously a Harp instructor at the Opus 48 School of Performing Arts.
