To encourage reading and promote literacy with younger students, The Texas Library Association's Children's Roundtable selects a list of twenty books each year. The curated list features a variety of picture books from multiple genres, covering a range of topics, for children ages 2 years to 2nd grade, hence Texas 2x2s. Students in PreK to 2nd grade are invited to read or listen to these books, in hopes they will cultivate a love of reading, enjoy stories, and make memories.
Good to Know Info-
Participation in this reading challenge is completely voluntary and NOT part of the district or state curriculum.
Students can read or listen to all 20 books, and return the recording sheet to Mrs. Urban for a prize.
Our Scott library has many of these books, but they can also be found at the public library.

Each school year, The Texas Library Association announces a list of 20 Bluebonnet Award nominees. The list is comprised of high-quality, newly published books of diverse topics and formats. Texas 3rd-5th grade students are invited to read widely from the list, then vote in February for their favorite read!
To be eligible to vote, students are asked to read or listen to a minimum of 5 books from the list. Students can choose to read on their own or participate in the Bluebonnet Lunch Club on Fridays in December & January, in which Mrs. Urban will read one of the nominated books while students eat and enjoy a book club discussion!
Participation in any or all parts of this program is completely voluntary.
