"Magic What? Magic Who? Just what is this Scott Library Magic Minutes I've been hearing about?"
You have come to the right place. Let's get into it:
What- Scott Library Magic Minutes is a library program that features fun opportunities to engage with library materials, get to know the librarian...me, and build community with peers.
How- Magic Minutes will feature passive programming. This is a fancy library science term for cool stuff to do! Your students will have access to our collection of books, puzzles, games, STEM materials, and technology.
When- Selected weeks throughout the school year on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings from 7:20 a.m. to 7:40 a.m. The first 30 students to arrive can participate. The ticket box sits outside the library until 7:30 a.m. when it is retrieved. See the Library FAQs | Policies page for dates.
Who- The first 30 students to arrive, pick up a ticket, and return it to Mrs. Urban in the library can participate.
Why- Spending time in the library beyond a scheduled library time helps students see the library as a place of connection, community, inquiry, and magic! Creating opportunities to explore engaging materials, visit with friends, and start mornings in a gentle and encouraging way, provides our Scott library with the opportunity to serve the whole child. 💜 If your child is not an early riser, no worries, there will be sign-up opportunities for teachers to bring their classes in for maker magic during the school day.
