Tse Yim On (b. 1974), lives and works in Hong Kong. Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1998, and Master of Fine Arts in 2001 from the Department of Fine Arts at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was awarded the Hong Kong Urban Council Award in 1998. Tse was a Part-time Lecturer at the Beijing Normal University, and is now a Part-time Lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Art School and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, CUHK.
He has exhibited his works not only frequently in Hong Kong, but also in Manchester, Tokyo, Singapore, Taipei, Paris, Seoul , and Tel Aviv. His works have been collected by the Hong Kong Museum of Art and private collectors worldwide.
Tse Yim On reconstructed his growth place with unique uses of acrylic colors which create a profound spatial structure that enables intertextual cultural symbols to be understood and interpreted in multiple ways. He found a way to merge his work with Japanese ACG elements along with peculiar colors from Hong Kong comics and turn these into his Ukiyo-e that tells cultural stories of Hong Kong.
