Dr. Shikakura is a multifaceted professional excelling as a teacher, researcher, and performer in Music Education, particularly focusing on Edu-Tech advancements. With a PhD in Kabuki music and education, her expertise is steeped in Japanese traditional music. Noteworthy performances include appearances at prestigious venues like The British Library and Baron’s Court Theatre. Her research explores topics such as the gender gap in Japanese traditional arts, pedagogical methods in traditional music education for youth, and spectral analysis of singing styles. Yui has authored papers on Kabuki performances during the Japanese occupation of Korea and co-authored a syllabus tailored for BA & MA students, with a primary education focus. She also contributed a chapter on Creativity and new technologies for Tokyo University. In the realm of education, Yui pioneers innovative approaches to Japanese traditional music and leads in music-driven STEAM education. She designed a blended learning playground for Conductive Music CIC, London.
