Music Classes
On the following pages is information about each class, including grading policy and weekly quizzes.
Along with the classes listed we also offer the following opportunities-
Jazz Band
This group will focus on the implementation of music in the jazz idiom.
Admittance to this group is by audition and the group meets after school.
This a competition level ensemble.
Students will learn how to play in the jazz/big band setting and learn the foundations of improvisation.
Chamber Choir
This is an a cappella singing group.
Admittance into this program is through audition.
Auditions are held at the beginning and end of each school year.
Rehearsals are held in the evenings once a week.
Pit Orchestra
This group performs alongside the students in the musical.
Students perform the original scores from Broadway.
Only students who participate in the band program are considered to participate in this group.
Students are chosen by the director based on talent and dedication to the music program.
This is an extra-curricular activity.
Color Guard
Students enhance the Marching Band by dancing and performing a choreographed flag routine.
Students are required to attend Band Camp, the last two weeks of August and perform alongside the Marching Band.
No prior ability needed.
This is an extra-curricular activity.
All-Shore, CJMEA, & All-State Ensembles
Honors Ensembles
Students who are active members of the Music Department are eligible to audition for these select ensembles.
Students must learn appropriate solo for specified voice or instrument.
Acceptance is based on an audition.
Private instruction is preferred for the student, but is not required.
Auditions, rehearsals, and performance are held outside of FHS.
This is an extra-curricular activity.
