2023 NCJW Campership
NCJW offers scholarships for children, grades 1-11, to a sleep away summer camp, for either two or three weeks.
Other than a $25 registration fee, there is no cost to the family. The camp is Hands In 4 Youth, in Milford, New Jersey.
CAMPERSHIP PROGRAM
I. WHO WE ARE:
NATIONAL COUNCIL OF JEWISH WOMEN (NCJW) is an organization dedicated, in the spirit of Judaism, to furthering human welfare in the Jewish and general communities – locally, nationally, and internationally. Established in 1893, it now numbers more than 100,000 women and men in 300 affiliated units across the country. Through a coordinated program of education, service, and social action, NCJW seeks to improve the quality of life for all people – especially disadvantaged children and youth, and the aging poor. PENINSULA SECTION was founded in 1936, and has a membership of approximately 1,000. It is actively involved in community services.
II. WHY WE ARE OFFERING SCHOLARSHIPS TO CAMP:
CHILDREN – AND THE COUNTRY – AND THE TREES – AND WIDE OPEN SPACE naturally go well together.
AN ORGANIZED CAMP OFFERS CHILDREN THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
Learn to live as a member of a group and community
Better understand themselves and others
Improve skills and learn new ones
Develop ideas and interests
Assume responsibilities
Make friends and have fun
III. FINANCIAL OBLIGATION OF PARENTS
Non-refundable registration fee of $25. per child
Spending money for the child while at camp
ALL OTHER CAMP FEES AND TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES ARE PAID IN FULL BY
NATIONAL COUNCIL OF JEWISH WOMEN, PENINSULA SECTION
IV. PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Summit registration fee
Fill out PARENT CONSENT FORM
Have your child examined and have medical form filled out promptly
Attend the required orientation meeting, if child is selected.
Help your child get ready for camp. (You probably already have all the clothing needed. However, you may be interested in knowing that the COUNCIL THRIFT SHOP at 342 Central Avenue in Lawrence has a good selection of camp clothing at very reasonable prices.)
Make certain your child arrives on time to meet the camp bus for the trip to camp.
Make certain your child is picked up on time when the bus returns from camp.
