Apr 3 - Apr 6
The first week of the final quarter of high school! This week has been pretty concrete. In class, I worked through some modules for the First Aid/CPR/AED course that we were finishing through the American Red Cross.
Since spring break is around the corner, I plan to continue my work with the course along with making revisions to the recent draft of my research paper. I plan on going through all of the comments Mrs. Stokoe and Mrs. Piller had made and editing accordingly.
I am going to push myself to get my revisions submitted early on during break so that I do not leave it for the last minute.
Apr 17 - Apr 21
This week was more of a productive week. It started off with starting to wrap up and talk about what the next few weeks would feel like. We talked about how fast this quarter will feel like.
There is a lot of work to be done such as: finish our quarter 3 digital portfolio checklist, finalize the drafts of our paper and pass the FIRST AID/AED/CPR certification test.
Since we had to get certified for FIRST AID/AED/CPR, I finished the course before Wednesday and that same day I was certified. Mr. Stokoe first introduced some important topics when giving care and some things to always remember such as making sure the care space is safe or asking consent. This opened my eye to a lot of the important details regarding giving CPR or Aid in general.
Overall the week was very direct and focused. I will utilize the weekend to work on my portfolio and finalize some edits to the paper. Also spend time with family as this weekend is also a festival for us Muslims called Eid.
Apr 24 - Apr 28
This week was one of the hardest weeks I’ve had all year. I had so much work/tests due in every class. I was busy studying for the AP Bio exam, and making edits to the healthcare paper and portfolio while also figuring out finances for college. As it is quarter 4, every week seems harder than the one before.
In terms of the Healthcare class itself, we had check-ins with Ms. Pillar and Ms. Stokoe about our digital portfolio, to ensure all work is turned in before the due date. I had very few things to add or change in my portfolio. I needed to add a weekly log, add the mid-year presentation video and recheck if all the article PDFs are attached. Furthermore, during the week, we did some VOGC revisions in terms of understanding what we can add to the VOGC sections. Things like being an engaged collaborator, a disciplined thinker, and more.
I will need to utilize, this coming weekend to my advantage, so I can get my work done and be on track for the upcoming AP Bio exam. Finally, I had to complete my Capstone community contact hour sheet, since they were due Friday. I had to finish attaching the evidence for the completion of my hours.
Apr 24 - Apr 28
This week was filled with a lot of work. I had so many assignments to finalize before submissions. In terms of Healthcare 21, it was rush week. We had to be done with our Community Contact Sheet & hours, as well as finish our Research Paper and Digital Portfolio.
For my project specifically, I worked on my portfolio, since there were lots of missing access to documents. To ensure that all documents are accessible, I used an outside school account to view the Portfolio and self-assess.
I also asked one of my peers to check over each document to make sure everything is accessible. It was a long process to fix but was worth the effort.
To conclude, despite all the troubles and stresses, I was able to finish all my work. I am actually proud of my journey in this class, especially in terms of my finished products. I look forward to presenting a good final presentation in the coming weeks
