Jan 24 - Jan 27
This week was pretty productive and kept me occupied most of the time. We discussed our Medical Terminology Course grades and how they will be reflected in our PowerSchool. Overall, the course was very helpful and taught me a lot of content that I would use in the future.
Since Q2 had just ended, I turned in my Quarter 2 checklist sheet after rechecking that all the criteria on the sheet were up to date on my digital portfolio.
On top of being productive, this week was also very interactive. We spent two classes with Ms.McCabe; she introduced us to sketch notes, which is a form of condensing materials into illustrative notes. We took time to create a 'tool kit' in which we put many fonts and styles of writing that we could use as a cheat sheet when actually taking notes. After creating the tool kit, we did a practice round of sketch notes while looking at a video about sleep. I am pretty in tune with using different fonts and pictures, so taking notes in this format seemed very usual to me.
On the second day, we spent with Ms.McCabe drafting our own sketch notes using our topic and driving question. This process was really helpful in organizing my research so far into clusters and I connected those clusters using arrows and lines.
Ms.McCabe coming to our class was very helpful. When I finish my sketch notes, I will make a new one to organize the material for the way I would format my paper.
Jan 30 - Feb 3
This week was definitely a step up in our workload. We started the week with the introduction of our research paper. It was described to be about a 10-page paper, usually about 2500 words. We were also told that although the limit is 2500 if we were to go over it to like 3000 the teachers wouldn't mind. We also discussed most of the important deadlines, including, every week we have a goal of having 500 words done on our research paper. Before we could get to this stage of drafting, we will need to complete our detailed outline which consists of an organized flow of our understanding. Which basically means an outline of the structure for our paper.
Apart from the Paper we also discussed the reflections we did on our previous assignments. During the week we discussed our mid-year presentation and Sketch notes Debreif reflection. In terms of sketch notes, I really do like this way of organizing my thoughts which is why I will use this method when I start organizing data for my paper. Overall, my takeaway from this activity was that sometimes using illustrations and cool fonts can enhance the way we remember information in our brains which helps us understand them easier.
As for my mid-year reflection, I had to watch a Ted talk and reflect on the strategies described in the video. In my reflection, I wrote about what I could improve, so that my final presentation is even better presented than the mid-year one. I also included details from the video about focusing audience and how knowing the audience beforehand helps tailor one’s content to be slightly simpler.

This week, we focused on pulling all of our research so far together into an outline. At the start of the week, we had to have developed some form of an outline for our research papers. In class, we were asked to collaborate with partners to review the outline and suggest edits and how to make the outline better. When making the outline, I realized the different areas of my research that still needed more information. This was a common understanding between my partner and me, that more research was needed before I could have all my arguments organized.
Secondly, we were also expected to write about 500 words of our paper, any part, so we could do a peer review to learn more about the writing process. I wrote about 526 words of my introduction and argument topic. At first, I was about 480 words but then I included some more information to make the 500-word benchmark. In class, we did a peer review using a checklist for language and content exhibition. Although my partner was not there I still managed to read over his paper to get a better understanding of what I can do to make my own paper better. From my partner's paper, I learned that I could use more statistical values to enhance the sophistication of my paper.
Overall this week, although a little stressful, went pretty smoothly. I will continue to work on my paper until the next 500 words are due and maybe my paper will start to get more structured by then.
Feb 13 - Feb 17
This week was a little stressful. I had a lot of work to do beyond schoolwork. I had to follow up with some of my colleges and speak to their administrators regarding international student affairs. Getting a hold of the right people took some time. Thankfully I stayed hopeful and persistent which helped me finish up that work so I could focus on Healthcare and other classes.
This week was super short since we had a long weekend and we only started the week on Wednesday. Even though the week was short, the workload was just as much as a regular week. We had our 1000 words due by Friday. I spend most of my time in class writing and editing my words to make sure I turn them in on time. I believe, after writing my 1000 words, I have finalized the subsections of the paper, which now makes things easier to organize as I continue writing.
After completing the 1000 words we had our last peer protocol. This was very helpful for seeing what other people had put in their papers which I could use in mine. Additionally, the feedback I got for my paper was really helpful to understand what I needed to change for my paper to be more effective and easily understood.
Finally, we finished off the week with the 1500 words due on Friday as well as a discussion activity where we sat in a circle and went around the room talking about our project as a whole. This was really fun because I got to hear about the different topics and how people were continuing their work. I learned a lot of people were piling up their hours which alerts me to do so too.
Feb 20 - Feb 24
This week was a really good and easy week. For Healthcare, this week felt like more of a work week for the upcoming 2500-word draft for our research paper. Other classes also felt just as simple and easygoing. To start the week off, since I already had my teacher conference with Ms.Stokoe, my only tasks were to work on my research paper and work on my portfolio.
First off, the only two criticisms I had received on my paper were to complete the images and to cite them properly, and included in-text citations for some of the paragraphs.
To continue the week it was just finalizing my paper and sorting the portfolio for the remaining time.
In conclusion, this week was great as it was not mentally taxing nor was it filled with a lot of assignments.

Mar 13 - Mar 17
This week was very relaxing, especially with the snow day, it gave me some time to be with my family. We began the week by editing and reviewing our peer’s final drafts, checking details and possible errors and constructive criticism. Although I was not in school on the day of the review, I still got an opportunity to review a paper and get mine reviewed over the weekend. When it came to the paper I reviewed, it was a well-organized paper, with introductions, topics, discussions and conclusions. Reviewing the paper gave me insight on how I can alter my introduction to be more inclusive of the flow of the paper.
Besides the paper-related work, this week was Social Justice week. We went as a class to watch presentations, the first one we watched was about Body positivity vs Body neutrality. It was a very well presented presentation. The second presentation we watched was about Anti-Semititsm. This topic itself was very heartbreaking, since so many jews still are victims of Anti-semitism.
To conclude, having a snow day was a great way to relax. Altogether, the presentations we watched for Social Justice were great, and allowed me to really get to understand such problems that exist in the world which we as humans often miss out on due to our busy work schedule.

This week was very taxing for me mentally. Although it was a pretty relaxed week, at the start, later in the week I received sad news that a family member had passed away. Well, the good things this week included an introduction to the Research paper Writing Process Reflection, in which I discussed my overall experience with writing for my research paper. The reflection included my biggest obstacles in writing it and furthermore what I would do differently if I was tasked with a similar assignment in the future. Additionally, we could also talk about what were my most significant takeaways.
To start, I talked about how my experience was daunting, when I first started writing. I had imagined the process of writing to be a tad bit easier but when I started the paper I actually felt relieved since I had planned out my structure and flow. Yes the process was tedious, but having prepared beforehand did give me relief when actually writing the paper. When needed I even researched additional materials as I went along the process.
To conclude, the rest of the week was very sad for me, due to the death of a close family member. Thus I did not come to school the last two days of the week. I still kept up with the daily docs, to ensure I knew what was going on during class. It was mostly just continuing to work on our digital portfolio, and some short discussion on how the next couple of weeks will unfold. Since the quarter is coming to an end, my goal is to finalize my research paper materials and organize my portfolio to the best of my ability.
