Discover the Core Principles Guiding Your ISoc's Mission
Understanding the fundamental 'why' behind your ISoc is the first step to building a truly impactful and spiritually grounded community on campus. Every effort you make as an ISoc leader contributes to something much larger.
This model clarifies your ISoc's purpose, actions, and methods, aligning them for maximum impact and effectiveness.
WHY: Serve & uplift Muslim students for the sake of Allah (SWT).
WHAT: Events, socials, welfare, dawah.
HOW: Planning, sincerity, teamwork, communication.
These principles, when aligned, create a powerful and cohesive ISoc identity.
"Verily actions are based upon intentions and every man shall have that which he intended" (Bukhari and Muslim)
This is a profound reminder that your intentions matter, and you'll be rewarded according to them. At the beginning of the year and throughout, always check and reaffirm your intention for why you're working for an ISoc, ensuring it's for the sake of Allah (SWT).
A strong leader is the cornerstone of any effective team. True leadership in an ISoc is about serving your people and the Muslim community with humility and sincerity. When you lead with genuine care and inspire through your actions, your team will naturally follow and respect your guidance.
The first and most important thing to make crystal clear to anyone who works in your ISoc is that all efforts are for the sake of Allah (SWT) alone. This understanding should be founded upon the Quran and the Sunnah. Continually remind your team of this divine intention, especially at the beginning of team meetings. Remember, hard work without sincere intention can diminish rewards; sincere efforts bring barakah (blessings) and development.
What do you expect from your team? Prompt task completion, upholding Islamic values, consistent attendance? These expectations must be stated clearly to everyone from the very beginning. Empowering individuals with well-defined roles streamlines work and builds confidence. Don't fall into the trap of doing everything yourself.
While sincere intentions are paramount, remember that sincerity also manifests in effort. It's not enough to simply have sincere intentions without putting in the hard work. Conversely, working hard without sincere intentions can fall into riyaa' (showing off) and diminish rewards. When you combine sincere intention with dedicated hard work, you will witness the fruits of your efforts blossom, and Allah (SWT) will place barakah in all that you do.
