fosis diw services:

VIRTUAL Speaker tour

As part of DIW, a major ISoc initiative entails inviting guest speakers to deliver lectures and talks on a topic of their choice to their campus community .

FOSIS provides Islamic Societies speakers to book for their DIW events, allowing ISocs to easily hold talks to remind, educate and call people to Islam. These speakers are experts within their field and well known community leaders, Imams, teachers and scholars.

Whilst ISocs may not be able to hold any in-person talks with guest speakers this year, FOSIS are still here to provide speakers for a virtual DIW.

This year, our DIW Speaker Tour consists of speakers from a wide range of backgrounds and areas of expertise, so ISocs will be sure to find speakers that fit into their theme and vision for DIW. Our DIW21 Speakers fall within three main strands: 'Fundamentals of Islam', 'Qur'an' and 'Da'wah', and are available for booking between the 25th January - 2nd April (we are able to fulfil speaker requests outside of this timeframe as well). Scroll down to find out more!

virtual DA'WAH TRAINING

Da'wah, in essence, was the call of all the prophets and messengers to worship Allah swt alone and the act of calling people to the ultimate and only truth, Islam.

Giving Dawah is a responsibility on all of us and does not require you to be a profound expert on all aspects of Islam; however, having clear and correct knowledge on core elements is key for having the confidence to give Da’wah.

This year FOSIS will be organising a national Da’wah Training for all ISoc committee members and volunteers on how to give effective and meaningful Da’wah. This will also enable ISocs to address some common challenges and pitfalls faced by students while giving Da’wah in a University context.

speaker strands

Speakers within this strand are experts on a broad range of Islamic topics, from core beliefs, ideology, the Qur'an, Hadith and practices of Islam to trials and tribulations in light of Islam. This includes aspects like articles of faith, pillars of Islam, imaan, Ihsan, taqwa, Allah swt and worshipping him, sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (saw), seerah, the Sahaabah (ra) to name a few.

Speakers within this strand are experts on all aspects relating to the Qur'an; the most important source of authority and the ultimate guidance for all humankind. This may include elements such as the Quran's history, its preservation, the science of the Qur'an, how to derive lessons from it and its main themes as guidance for us to name a few.

Speakers within this strand are experts in the processes of Da'wah i.e calling, conveying and inviting people to the message of Islam. These speakers are experts in dealing with audiences that are new to Islam or have questions as well as providing guidance to Muslims on how to approach calling people to Islam. They are also skilled at countering ideologies, beliefs and practices antithetical to Islam and proving how/why Islam is the ultimate truth in contrast with other faiths, scriptures and secular ideas.

SACRED WISDOM

“Invite to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.” (Qur’an, an-Nahl: 125)

Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said “Convey from me, even if it is one verse. (al-Bukhaari- 3461)
