Math Simulations & Games

  • PHET- is a website of interactive simulations that was produced by graduate students from the University of Colorado Boulder. One of my favorite simulations is the one with fractions.
  • Math Game using Equivalent Fractions
  • ABSURD Math - interactive mathematical problem solving game series. Can your students solve the mission?
  • Multiplication. com- It has several free games dealing with multiplication and division but it also has some things that require payment.
  • Johnnie's Math Page - This website is a great resource to a lot if webbased math games. Instead of searching everywhere, you might start here.
  • Mathsframe - UK website that is filled with lots of different math games, worksheets and assessments.
  • HOODAMath- many different games.
  • ABCya.com - Lots of lower elementary math games.
  • Arcademics.com - Lots of arcade based games based off of math skills.
  • Prodigy - A new math resource that is like a role playing game with embedded math problems. Students really enjoy.



Graphs

  • Flippity- Using Flippity as a Progress Tracker and Graph Producer. One of the templates that I think might be useful is the one that charts progress. Here is a link to see an example of the graph. This will let you see what it looks like. Here is the link for the actual spreadsheet.
  • Chartle - Create charts and graphs plus diagrams like Venn
  • ChartGo - very simple chart and graph creater. No account needed.
  • Draw.io - Allows you to create flowcharts and diagrams and be able to save in different places. No account needed.
  • Cacoo - Allows for multiple users and the users can create diagrams and flowcharts.
  • Create A Graph - Really simple graph creator. No account needed.
  • Gapminder - Great resource to find info to graph.
  • Dont forget about Word Cloud websites like Tagxedo. They can graph the frequency of word use by the display size of the words.

Free Math Resources on Web

  • YummyMath - Great Resource. The lessons are broke down by Genres and 3rd through 8th grade, then High School. The name is misleading, it is not about food just some yummy math resources. I would check this site out before planning your next math lesson!
  • illuminations - You can look up lessons, find interactives or take your students there for games and brain teasers.
  • Get the Math - Having trouble finding how math is used in the real world. The entire site is dedicated to helping you with this problem. The students will be able to see that math is in basketball, fashion, and even music.
  • PBS LearningMedia - This site is filled with small quick videos about almost anything you can think of concerning math.
  • TEDEd Talks - Videos that start math lessons to videos about math in the real world.

Student help

  • KHANacademy - Probably the most known self help resource for math.
  • Youtube - Students can just type a topic in the search field and probably get several videos showing how to work various math problems.
  • XTRAMath.org - Helps with basic math facts.
  • Algebra.Help - Just as it says - help with algebra.
