We are a Gold Reading School!
All of our hard work and dedication to reading has helped us achieve Gold Level from the Scottish Book Trust Reading Schools awards.
Reading is at the heart of our school and we encourage our pupils, staff and community to engage in reading for enjoyment as often as possible.
The 24-25 Reading School's group and Mrs Shepherd guided Culbokie Primary and led to us achieving this fabulous award!

2025/ 2026
With our current Pupil Group sessions coming to a close, we RAG'd (red, amber, green) our suggested activities from the start of the year to see where we had made the most progress and to give us a starting point for next year.
Design our new logo competition
The Galaxy Reader's group judged the brilliant entries from across the school and our winner was Holly Gow in P5 😃 with 11 votes!
Reading Assemblies
10.11.25 - Primary 7 kicked off our termly Reading Assembly.
Each term, one class takes responsibility to share their love of reading with the rest of the school.
P5/6, P4/5 and P2/3 have now also presented their Reading assemblies to us which has been a joy to watch and listen to their favourite books read aloud.
Book Donations
With thanks to our amazing families we have collected 74 books for CASH for KIDS!
We encouraged children to bring in a new book that could be donated to the charity to help with their appeal which supports local children in need over Christmas.
Community Christmas Stocking
To encourage reading for enjoyment out in our community, we developed Aria's idea of leaving books in areas such as the bus stop and in Culbokie Green and gave it a Christmassy twist!
Members of our community are encouraged to swap the book in the stocking for one they are finished with and pass it to another member.

Reading Schools Week
Galaxy reader's led Reading School's week in February. The Galaxy Reader's set up activities such as Drop Everything and Read day, Author Live day and Pupil Takeover Day! We had a great time and loved lifting the profile of reading early on in the year.
Galaxy Reader's set up a book hunt around the school where pupils had to look at the book front cover and go and find it around the school during 'Pupil Takeover'.
