You are expected to participate in class activities daily.
Electronic Devices
We will follow the district's policy on personal electronic devices.
Assignment Expectations
Work assigned for a grade is to be completed and turned in on time.
Work turned in with empty spaces, unanswered questions, or half-way completed work will be returned to you for completion before it is scored and will be considered LATE WORK after one day (see policy below).
Late work policy
Late-work is not accepted.
This is a college-level course. Due dates are due dates, just as in college. Do your best to turn in work completed and on time.
This means you will need to stay on top of work in Classroom and in touch with TDS or your peers to know what must be accomplished while you are out of class.
If you have missed a TIMED WRITING - upon your return, it is YOUR responsibility to schedule an appropriate time to complete the writing with TDS.
Re-take Policy
Re-takes are not allowed.
Your "test" scores are essays written in class or during a timed environment. These scores are adjusted throughout the semester based upon your growth as a student writer.
Student receives a 70% on the first writing. But, on the second, they receive 85%. Both scores will then reflect 85%.
Student grades will not be retroactively penalized for a lower score on an assessment.
Student writing scores will adjust based upon the TYPE of writing: Rhetorical, Argumentative, Synthesis.
Students must score 85% or above to adjust a previously lower score.
I update grades usually within days of a daily assignment or in-class work. Essays take approximately two weeks to be graded and entered into the grade book.
I will do my best to explain, inform, and develop understanding of the ideas and activities we will pursue. Please ask questions if something does not make sense. I am happy to explain & I'm sure someone else has the same question.
Parent and student contact will be sent as needed.
