Course Overview

Discovery Den is a creative, hands-on class where students explore technology, design, and "making" through fun, project-based learning. Depending on the unit, students code robots, create digital and stop-motion animations, design AR and VR experiences using 3D modeling, sew with machines and hand stitching, and build their own digital games using MakeCode Arcade. Discovery Den encourages curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving as students learn by designing, building, and exploring new ideas.

Student Impact

The Media Center pathway is where you create a 3D block that shows six different natural disasters. It is really fun because you get to design everything yourself and easily find pictures and information for each disaster. The best part is when you finish your project, you can see your 3D block in real life using an iPad. It’s awesome to watch something you created come to life right in front of you. -5th Grade Student

The media center has many things you can do in there, and I think that the pathway Discovery Den is the most exciting one. Discovery Den has many things you can do in it. You can make origami, build in the creative corner, and even sew things! Discovery den has made me a more creative person and helped me learn how to make many things. Discovery Den is a great way to learn about creativity and uniqueness. It is a must! -5th Grade Student
