6th Grade Social Studies students have immersed themselves in learning about the effects of propaganda during World War II. Students completed a propaganda analysis where they discussed that during World War II propaganda was used to show a variety of different messages including enlisting in the military and rationing food for troops. Classes are analyzing how the Treaty of Versailles eventually led to World War II and the Nazis rise to power in Germany! Advanced Social Studies students are working on a DBQ (Document Based Inquiry) which looks at Totalitarianism in Germany and how the country was affected. They are doing a great job looking through sources and analyzing the many different effects it had on citizens of Germany.
7th Grade Social Studies students are completing the Southwest Asia governments and economics unit. The students have been learning about the government structure and citizen participation in the Southwest Asian countries of Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. They have also been learning about the economies of the same three countries. The students have been involved with several different individual and group projects during these past few weeks. Beginning in December the students will be learning about the African geography standards.
8th Grade Georgia Studies students enjoyed a presentation by the Sons of the American Revolution-Robert Forsyth Chapter. Students were able to hear second-hand accounts of what life was like in Georgia during the American Revolution by actual descendents of American Patriots. Students are wrapping up the first semester with learning about how land was acquired during Georgia’s early statehood and Georgia’s role in the American Civil War.
The VCMS Science Fair took place on December 1st.
First place went to Avyukth Ram S. for his "Beyond the Button: Designing a Puff Switch.
Second place was Mukund Sri Vathsalyan K. for his Smart Assist: for Visually Impaired Navigation.
Third Place was the team of Tanishq S. and Divyansh P. for the study on "How does screen time before bed affect sleep."

7th grade reading classes participated in a book/author tasting featuring Ransom Riggs. Using Ransom's inspiration for his characters and stories, students sifted through 'found photos' to come up with captions for their selected images.
PTO had a wonderful time hosting our Veterans. We were able to honor our Veterans and their families with a delicious breakfast and incredible ceremony! Happy Veterans Day!
