This is an introduction activity for our Risk Mngt Unit.
Get into groups of no more than 5 (I will assign groups ased on numbers 1-5)
Pick something that happens every day concerning school where risks could be present.
think simple actions such as: car rider drop off, students parking on campus, going to away games, eating lunch in the cafe, etc.
Create a poster identifying 5 risks and 5 mitigating actions that could be taken to prevent consequences of poor risk managment.
Submission
when finsihed, please snap a pic of the poster and submit it on this drop box.
Acceptable file formats: .png, .jpg, .pdf
In simple terms:
Pick something that happens at school that is risky and suggest 5 ways to make it safer.
Work Flow:
Phase 1 – Choose as a group which activity you plan to analyze and create the poster as prescribed in the directions above.
Phase 2 – Peer Review
Each group will plan a short presentation (2-3 mins) of their work. The other 4 groups will then choose a spokesperson to represent them. Following the presentation, the group will collectively choose 1 compliment and 1 suggestion to enhance their work. In other words, praise them and then point out a blind spot.
Phase 3 – Real World Connection
We will tour the posters in the classroom in groups and use sticky notes to indicate which suggestions could be used elsewhere in our lives. For example, maybe a group suggested the use of Indicator Dogs in large crowds at football games to mitigate a variety of potential risks; you may think that idea would also work at music festivals.
Phase 4 – Groups will meet and consider criticisms, praises, and connections. Following the meeting, the group will create digital posters as a final product.
