Ms. Lawson is an advertising copywriter. She’s also a brand strategist, graphic design director, public relations writer, and her own market researcher. And she writes award-winning essays. She also doesn’t sleep much.
She began her career in Connecticut’s largest advertising agency as part of the public relations team. That team achieved outstanding results for clients. They also beat the top Boston agencies in the creative awards competitions.
Ms. Lawson then moved to copywriting, where she wrote radio, direct mail, blogs, videos, websites, and tweets. She’s written for categories ranging from banking to dog apparel. Yes, dog apparel.
She writes essays at night. Her essay, “Garden Vigilantes” was chosen for Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion website. She also won top national awards from the Garden Writers Association. One judge said, “Her writing made me laugh out loud.”
She’s written marketing emails and audio scripts for top comedians like George Carlin.
Ms. Lawson proves that if you want inspiration as an advertising copywriter, don’t just study advertising’s best work. Study legendary writers like Steinbeck, top songwriters, and even top comedians like those she wrote for. You will have a range of inspirational tools that your competitors have never thought of. You’ll also get results like this: Her first campaign for Book Expo America increased attendance by 32%. International attendance increased by 42%.
She believes that different learners have a big advantage in creative careers like marketing and advertising. She should know. She’s dyslexic.
