ACT NOW
ACT NOW to Make The Winnemac Dog Park a Reality:
The Winnemac Park Dog Friendly Area proposal has been submitted to the Chicago Park District, and is now being considered as part of a set of Winnemac Park improvements that includes baseball field turf installation and tennis court restoration.
We are now facing accelerated opposition from a small number of neighbors who do not believe that a dog park in Winnemac Park can be built to ensure safety of children and respect for the environment, despite our group's assurances and commitments to the contrary.
The 40th Ward Alderman, Andre Vasquez, has tempered his unequivocal support for the Dog Friendly Area, and is asking that our group find a compromise with individuals have made it clear they will not support a Dog Park within the vicinity of Winnemac Park.
The Chicago Park District, the final decision-makers, have indicated that community support will strongly impact their decision.
We need your help NOW to remind decision-makers that the overwhelming majority of neighbors support our effort!
In our final push to get approval, the most important thing now is signatures on the petition, especially from neighbors living within a mile of the park. It also wouldn't hurt to send an email or write a letter to decision-makers. We've provided a template with sample text in the link provided below.
