Most people are not aware of what’s going on and the mistreatment in ICE detention centers, and at the border between the U.S and Mexico. Speaking on this topic or even sharing stories from my personal family members who have gone through these experiences, is a voice for the many that can’t or are afraid of speaking up.
What have I done?
For my Plan of Action for Immigration I took a trip to Cape Cod connecting with Building a Bigger Table, to connect with the children staying there. Building A Bigger Table is a humanitarian community whose mission is to support migrants, in response to the increasing numbers of migrant families needing shelter. They're a group of individuals dedicated to creating a welcoming community for displaced families in need of support, by offering hospitality and connecting migrants with appropriate resources to help them find housing, employment, and offer financial assistance.
