If Your Score Is Around the National Average (about 10–12)
What it often indicates:
basic fundamentals are present
students can solve many early questions
medium problems (Q16–20) are the main growth area
Typical improvement focus:
Strengthening foundational concepts and improving reading precision
Practice easier and medium-level problems regularly until you can solve them consistently and accurately.
If Your Score Is in the 13–18 Range:
What it often indicates:
solid foundation and good early pacing
enough skill to solve some medium questions
improvement will come from reducing “avoidable losses”
Next focus:
Build a structured study plan that focuses on improving medium-level problems. Aim to convert more Questions 16–20 reliably by strengthening multi-step reasoning and recognizing common AMC 8 patterns.
For younger students (especially Grade 6 and below), the goal can be to reach Honor Roll in Grade 7 or 8, which provides a strong foundation before transitioning to AMC 10 preparation and potential AIME qualification.
If Your Score Is 19–21 (Honor Roll Zone):
What it often indicates:
strong consistency on early and medium questions
you’re converting most Q1–20 correctly
pushing higher requires skill on hard questions (Q21–25)
Next focus:
Students scoring in this range typically show strong consistency on early and medium problems. The next step is to develop deeper insight for harder questions (Q21–25) and improve efficiency under time pressure.
At this stage, it is beneficial to begin exposure to AMC 10 problems early, building the reasoning depth and contest strategies needed for AIME-level competition.
If Your Score Is 22+ (DHR Zone):
What it often indicates:
very high accuracy + efficient reasoning
reliable attempts on harder questions
readiness to transition into AMC 10 and beyond
