XXIV Sitges Conference, Barcelona, 9-11 June 2014

New Horizons in Statistical Physics and its Applications

Scope

In this occasion the Sitges Conference focused on New Horizons in Statistical Physics and its Applications. Sessions in the meeting included topics such as fundamentals of statistical mechanics and thermodynamics, fluctuations in small-scale systems, properties of graphene, anomalous transport, aggregation and self-assembly of structures, fluid dynamics, biological systems, heat radiation at the nanoscale, stochasticity in materials and in granular and active matter, mechanisms of generation and conversion of energy, modeling of non-linear noisy systems, and more. With the organization of this Conference we intended to stimulate discussions between researchers coming from different areas on the vast range of applications of statistical physics, to favor the interchange and cross-fertilization of ideas, and to deepen the understanding of the open questions in the field.
