All students take 6 classes each semester. If you have 2 dual enrollment classes, you will have 4 FVHS classes, etc. The exception is 12th grade students who are eligible for Early Admission/Early College ( 4-5 college classes and 0 FVHS classes)
The number of dual enrollment classes permitted depends on the college, your grade, and high school credits on your transcript.
Dual enrollment classes can replace core high school requirements or electives.
Your Focus schedule will have 6 FVHS classes until we have confirmation that you have been enrolled in the dual enrollment classes. Sometimes this doesn't happen until after classes start.
Students with a high school IEP or 504 plan (or other documentation) may be able to receive accommodations in college classes. It is important to note that the process is quite different to high school, and that any accommodations at the high school level do not automatically transfer to the college.
students are responsible for self-identifying to the college and providing any necessary documentation
it is important to start this process as early as possible, preferably before the start of term
Note: College students fall under ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) vs IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Act) in high school
ABOUT COLLEGE CLASSES
Classes will be in a college portal. You'll have a college email address and login
The structure will vary depending on the professor, but most online classes will post assignments at the beginning of the week and they'll be due at the end of the week. Most do not have any "live lessons"
Textbooks may be physical books, an etextbook, or incorporated into the course. Any books or codes are ordered through the college bookstore (and paid by FVHS so long as you follow the instructions and meet any deadlines)
You may be required to do some tests/exams at set dates/times and they may be online proctored exams (on camera). It's important to not make any travel plans until all testing is scheduled (out of country testing may not be permitted).
