My goal as an art educator is to allow students the opportunity to foster and develop their creative skills in a fun and interesting learning environment. We of course learn about art concepts, elements and principles of design and many artistic techniques. We do lots of activities, games, and experiments to learn about art history, aesthetics, and art criticism. A student's elementary years are a time to experiment and understand the world around them. I like to offer as much choice as possible when children create their work while they learn about fundamental concepts of art.
It is also important to me that I get to know my students as much as possible. Understanding a child's needs and interests allow me to help them be successful.
