Dr. Mohamad Amir bin Shamsudin is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Control & Mechatronics Engineering (CMED), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Born in Johor, Malaysia, in 1983, he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechatronics Engineering from UTM in 2007 and 2009, respectively, and completed his Ph.D. in 2015 at the same institution. His doctoral research focused on Dynamic Modelling and Control of an Underactuated Wheel Balancing Robot.
Dr. Mohamad Amir’s research interests and expertise span autonomous mobile robotics, robotic control systems, artificial intelligence, and applied soft computing techniques. His work emphasizes intelligent control and autonomous/adaptive navigation for surveillance vehicles and autonomous platforms.
He is actively involved in academic leadership and outreach, serving as Academic and Laboratory Coordinator at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He has also contributed extensively to robotics education and community engagement through programs such as Robotics for All (RFA) and Asia Simulation Conference (ASIASIM).
