The Fisher Early Childhood Education Program believes that:
Every child deserves a strong foundation — rooted in kindness and a love of learning — for success in school and in life.
All children have unlimited potential to learn and grow.
Play is not separate from learning — for young children, play is learning.
Every child has unique interests and strengths, and each one contributes to a thriving community of Fisher Knights who will be together all the way until high school graduation.
To achieve this mission, the Fisher Early Childhood Education programs will:
Provide a safe, supportive environment where children learn to be responsible and respectful of themselves and others.
Partner with families as a child's first teachers, building learning as a shared effort between home, school, and community.
Nurture curiosity, exploration, creativity, and imagination as pathways to lifelong learning.
Respect and honor individual differences, learning styles, and cultural diversity in every child.
In early childhood, we believe that children learn best through hands-on, authentic experiences. The best way to involve children in this learning is through their own play. Our classrooms are designed to be engaging and accessible to young children with a variety of materials for all children to experience. The daily schedule is created with a balance of large group and small group activities, as well as an abundance of time for children to engage in their own learning through play. Our teachers value this learning by asking questions, joining in, observing, and providing new opportunities.
A child’s experiences in early childhood create a foundation for future learning and lifelong success. At Fisher Pre-K/Preschool, we teach the “whole child." Activities in our classrooms focus on the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of each child to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. In our classes, children will learn to identify and handle their emotions, respect others, recognize and write their name, work as a team, count, think creatively, identify letters, problem solve, and so much more!
