It's the simple things that can help a student learning English get settled in... how the recess and lunch works... allowing them to speak their native language, pronounce their names correctly....
This is my backward planning curriculum map for the Where We are in Place and time: Explorers unit for 5th grade. I think this is before I knew which grade I was going to be assigned for clinical. So I picked the unit that my own school's 5th grade was going through in the moment. I grew so much with this activity becuase I had to talk to so many different people to talk about standards - which I tell you is a hot button issue right now as we have several people coming in to re-vamp our curriculum to line up with our PYP and Inquiry based concepts.
