"To take action and help the local Oberursel Tierheim who we have always been providing aid to. They were desperate for donation items for their own shelter because lots of items were sent to Ukraine. We are planning to include the entire PS ES FISO community. The boxes will be set up from the 15th-21st of June for PS and 21-22nd of June for ES. Donations or extra change would be made from Primary school students and elementary school students as an 'entrance fee' for their Sportsday. These items are the items the Tierheim needs as we have made sure with the Tierheim.


Dogs:

The PS ES Principal will send out our video advertisement on Seesaw once this is complete. Additionally, we will make posters and social media posts to notify the PS ES parents.

At the spaces (written below) we will have decorated boxes set up. We want our eager group member to take action but more importantly, we want our group members to enjoy this event and gain experience from it."

Girl Up: Sexual Assault Awareness (Month)

The main goal of this event would be to raise awareness (what SA is, how it effects men and women, preventative methods, and how to provide support), but we would be very happy to use this opportunity to raise funds as well (by selling treats before and after the event). This event would include spreading awareness through speeches, of course, but we would also love to have FIS performers showcase their talent (musicians, poets, etc.).

I-CAP: Ukraine Ribbon and Bake Sale

Youth Against Prejudice: Grade 11 YAP discussion

To raise awareness about issues our community has observed within FIS about different marginalized groups. We used data from a survey we conducted in December of 2021 to find the topics that we wanted to focus on. We decided to really focus on how the topics (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, intersectionality, ableism, classism, and implicit bias) manifest in our own school community and how we can improve the FIS community for marginalized groups. The majority of these issues are entirely systemic and the best way to 'get rid' of them is to start conversations and have people ask as many questions as possible.

The purpose of the K9 Dog Walk is to include our members in participating in a fundraise event over a period of time. We are planning to walk dogs in small groups after school mainly from the FIS community, to fundraise for the Diazozo Animal Shelter where an FIS faculty member has a direct connection with. We are hoping to build connections with pet-owning FIS families so that our group can gain recognition and gain support in future events. Additionally, we aim to interact with shelters within our region and the FIS K9 Community through this fundraise.

Andante: Breathing in March

The main purpose of this event is to create musical performances to entertain marginalized people and to provide lasting memories and connections with them. Due to covid-19, we believe that this event will be processed online, however, we can connect to more homes which will give us more opportunities to fulfill Andante's aim. Moreover, this online performance will give Andante members an opportunity to collaborate with people in other grades which will allow them to achieve one of the CAS requirements/essential agreements.

K-9 Relief: Bake and Sponsor

Our service group is planning to sponsor a canine dog from the Soi Dog Foundation located in Thailand. They are an organisation dedicated to nurturing puppies, providing them shelter and medical treatment, as well as training them to become canine dogs. ​​By sponsoring a dog, not only will we change their life, but we’ll also change the lives of many others in desperate situations. Our support will ensure that these dogs receive the care they need and deserve. Our service group will receive regular updates from our sponsor dog throughout the year. Our gift of sponsorship will help fund the shelter, food, medicine and veterinary care for dogs that have nowhere else to go and is used not only to help your sponsored dog but all the other animals Soi Dog cares for. We want this to be an engaging event for our service group members and make our service group more known within the FIS community.

Oceans Aware: Christmas Saving the Ocean

We are planning to prepare the Christmas tree made out of paper since our service group had done research about the relationship between the Christmas holiday and the plastic waste that are eventually very likely to be dumped into the ocean.

When we get ready for the tree with all the members before the event starts, we are planning to sell the postcards with the artworks printed on them (the artworks submitted for the art exhibition) right next to the tree. When buying the postcard, they will get a chance to write a simple quote about the ocean pollution + celebrating Christmas on a piece of circle shaped blue/sky blue paper, and those will be hung up on the paper tree.

The money earned will be all donated to the WWF.

In line with our group's mission, the purpose of this event is to provide musical joy to our local seniors. As last time, we would like to broadcast this online in coordination with the Media Team and the FIS Technicians.

With the easing of Covid-19 restrictions during the last couple of months, our group Andante is looking forward to performing live for our local home-cares. However, given the sensitive nature of home-care facilities, we thought it would be best to hold-off until they are confident to give clearance (hopefully early next year).

We want to raise awareness for our group but also to take action and help the Tierheim in the best way possible in the times of covid when we cannot directly access the Tierheim. We are planning to include the entire FIS community, including the Wiesbaden campus (we will contact them). We will take donations from middle and high school students leaving FIS or anyone who is willing to donate. These items can be toys, pet food/treats, collars & leashes, blankets, bowls and any other items that the Tierheim may need (we will be contacting them soon asking for the items they need the most). Additionally, we will promote our group via advertisement and on site on the day of the event with posters, images, videos and a link to our service group website & sign up page. On site (probably in front of the cafeteria), we will have decorated boxes set up. We are aiming to make use of our time during the pandemic to take actions but more importantly, we want our group members (especially seniors) to enjoy this event and gain experience from it.

I-CAP: What does Peace mean to you?

As a group, we have folded origami doves on zoom. We want to have a little stand in the entrance area and get peers to write what peace means to them onto these doves in exchange for a little sweet. Then we would hang them all up as a little installation, thus spreading awareness for peace.

Oceans Aware and Ludus: Children for the Oceans

We want to allow children to creatively raise ocean awareness through art (creating badges) while teaching them about the ocean. We will have printed templates with ocean animals and facts for the children to color in, and then we will press them into badges that they can take home.

Clean Water Initiative: Student-Teacher Appreciation Week

The idea is to do a Student- Teacher appreciation week where students are able to send their teachers their thanks for all they have done during the year (and vice versa). We think it’s a great opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work this year and even give those who are moving an opportunity to say goodbye. We also want to urge all teachers to do the same to other teachers or to their own students since we have all been working very hard during this strange year. We will be selling “Candy Grams” with a note and a packaged sweet.
