Please note the first day back to school for all Grade 6-12 students is Thursday, 14 August 2025
Dear Parents,
On behalf of our Board of Trustees, FIS colleagues and administration, I look forward to welcoming you to the 2025/2026 school year. Students and parents new to the school will quickly find FIS to be a warm and welcoming community, and those returning to our campus will feel at home as they share stories from what I hope will be an enjoyable summer.
All of the necessary information to help get the new school year off to a positive start is available within this site; division-specific information has been separated into sub-pages to help you access the information that is most relevant for your family. Of course, if you have any additional questions to ensure a smooth transition into the new school year, please do not hesitate to call our divisional offices for more information.
For New Parents, it is vital that you register for your ID badge as soon as possible. Your badge will be necessary to gain entrance into the campuses. Details on how to register for your ID can be found on this page.
I would particularly like to draw your attention to our drop-off/pick-up procedure at the Oberursel Campus. All students must be dropped off/picked up at the Primary School; parent parking and student drop-off/pick-up is not allowed at the An der Waldlust entrance.
As the new school year begins, please take some time to consider how you might become involved as a parent, whether that be supporting homeroom activities, offering input through parent forums or as a guest speaker, coaching Saturday sports, or volunteering at one of the many events sponsored by our Parent Teacher Groups (PTG) on both campuses. The involvement of FIS parents is one of the cornerstones of our school community and we look forward to your participation in order to deliver on the FIS World of Opportunities. Thank you for your consideration.
At FIS, we have much to celebrate and be grateful for, and I look forward to greeting you at one of the many events we have across our campuses, and sharing in all of the rich experiences the new school year promises.
All good wishes,
Dr. Paul M. Fochtman
Head of School
Dear New FIS Families,
The Board of Trustees warmly welcomes you to Frankfurt International School! We are delighted that you are joining the FIS community.
FIS is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of 12 members. Five members are appointed, six are elected parent members, and one member is elected by the faculty and staff. All members serve as volunteers for two-year terms.
Our focus is to ensure that our school’s mission is fulfilled both now and in the future. We are charged with the effective and smooth long-term strategic leadership of the school, in strong partnership with Dr. Paul Fochtman, our Head of School. The Board does most of its work through its committees: Buildings & Grounds, FutureEd, Finance, Policy, and Trustees. You can find more information about the Board, the committee structure, the current Board members, and Board meeting minutes, on the FIS website.
The Board of Trustees is dedicated to ensuring that the interests of all FIS stakeholders are served. To achieve this, we encourage open and active communication among parents, teachers, students, administrative staff, alumni, and friends of FIS. We invite you to come to our Board of Trustees meetings, which take place six times a year, usually on a Monday evening. These meetings are an opportunity for you, the parents, to learn more about the operations of your school, to ask any questions, and to weigh in on the school’s future direction.
We look forward to welcoming you personally to our FIS family at one of our school events this fall.
Again, we warmly welcome you to FIS.
Your Board of Trustees
