School Bus Transportation
If you have registered your child(ren) for school transportation, a bus schedule will be sent to you in August to determine the bus stop nearest you, as well the morning departure and afternoon return arrival times. PS bus children will be issued a hat with their name, class and bus number printed on it. Children should wear their hats every time they are to use the school bus transportation. Children using the school bus service will be taken by shuttle buses from the PS to the main campus parking area, where they will transfer to their assigned buses. Teaching assistants accompany the children on the shuttle buses and transition them directly to their assigned buses. Bus 15 arrives and departs directly from the Primary School.
We wish to remind parents of children who use the school bus service that your transport contract requires that: “Each child must be accompanied to and met at the proper bus stop by one of his/her parents or another person authorized by the parent on every day the child attends school.” Parental presence at the local bus stop, not in a parked car near the stop, is necessary to ensure the safety of our youngest children. PS children may not use public transportation to school unless accompanied. Please see the School Bus - Arranging Transport on the General Information page.
Private Car Transportation
Parents bringing children to school by car or on foot: please follow the Traffic and Parking Procedures. You must accompany your PS child and wait with them until the arrival time at 8:20. If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation office, by telephone on 06171 2024-466 or e-mail transportation@fis.edu.
Lunch Services
Please provide a healthy nut-free snack, a drink, and lunch for your child on a daily basis. You can either send a cold lunch from home or purchase a hot lunch at school. Primary School students will be issued ID/chip cards that are stored in the homeroom classrooms. To purchase hot lunches at school, you will need to log in to your account with the school catering service, Aramark. Details on registering for the ID/chip card and other lunch service information is available here on the FIS website.
School Supplies
Stationery, pencils, scissors and all other school supplies will be provided by the PS. Children will need a pair of indoor PE shoes with Velcro fastenings. They will also need rain/snow wear, depending on the season, which should include waterproof pants, jacket, hat, gloves and boots. A backpack that is big enough to fit an A4 folder, preferably without wheels, is also recommended.
Important Information About Health Check Requirements for Parents of Primary/Grade 1 Students
Parents of 5- or 6-year olds will receive an official letter, in German, from the Health Authority (Gesundheitsamt) regarding state-mandated health checks for children. The letter will give you an appointment (place and time) that you must take your child to. These are mandatory health checks and non-attendance can result in a fine. The letter will come from your regional Gesundheitsamt (Health Authority-Hochtaunus, Maintaunus, or Frankfurt).
If you have any questions when you receive such a letter, please contact the PS office, Ms. Zabbal, 06171-2024 500, or the PS nurse, 06171-2024 506, who will be able to help you.
