The Goal - 3 chances to fly your rocket carrying a tiny altimeter as high as possible
Very Challenging Event - Most Common Causes of Failure:
No staging - comes in ballistic
No staging - sustainer separation
Staging, but no booster streamer
Booster damage/burn-up
Staging, but non-vertical boost
Staging, but sustainer tip off
Staging, but no sustainer streamer
Staging, but sustainer simply lost
Recovery, but no altimeter reading
Sustainer damage can't fly again
Your goal at this point isn't to do S1 well, it is simply to learn to do it at all, a single successful flight is a major accomplishment
S1 can be flown 1 or 2 stage
The rocket must be at least 500 mm tall
The Booster(1st stage) has to be at least 40 mm in diameter and 250 mm in length
Sustainer(2nd stage) can be any total length, must be 18mm external diameter for at lest 75% of the stage's length, and may NOT have a boat tail
The 1st stage must use at least 50% of the total impulse of the rocket - can be same motor type
3 flights are allowed
Flown in rounds, one flight per round
Best flight of the 3 flights
