Running Start
There are three options for students to earn college credit while taking classes with their peers in high school.
CTE Dual Credit
Students earning a C or higher can earn college credit from local 2-year and technical colleges when taking eligible CJH/FHS courses. Eligible courses start in 9th grade.
Advanced Placement (AP)
Students can earn college credit after taking and passing a test from College Board at the end of the year in eligible courses. Eligible courses start in 9th grade.
CWU in the High School
Students earn college credit from Central Washington University by taking an eligible FHS course, registering for the CWU course, and successfully completing course. Eligible courses start in 10th grade.
Fife High School offers students the opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts – Direct Transfer Agreement (AA-DTA) by combining college credits earned through CTE Dual Credit, Advanced Placement (AP), and College in the High School (CiHS) courses taken at Fife. Eligible courses start in 9th grade.
Running Start is a Washington State program that allows eligible high school juniors and seniors to earn college credits by taking courses at a community or technical college that count toward both high school and college graduation.

Fife High School uses an internal weighted GPA for FHS honors and awards. Students can earn a higher internal GPA by taking honors, AP, and CWU in the High School courses.
