Safey in the Technical Workshops

General Safety:

1. No workshop practice is allowed without the supervision of a Design and Technology teacher or instructor.

2. All students must wear aprons during sessions.

3. Long hair must be tied back to avoid entanglement.

4. Avoid wearing long sleeves, accessories or ties as they pose risks near machinery.

5. Always use safety guards and protective gear when operating machines.

Operating Machinery:

6. Only operate machines after receiving proper instruction on their safe use.

7. Use the appropriate tool for each task and return tools to their proper place after use.

8. Do not use faulty tools; handle sharp tools with care.

9. Report any defective equipment immediately and avoid using it.

Injury and First Aid:

10. Report all injuries, no matter how minor, to the teacher or instructor and seek first aid.

Housekeeping:

11. Maintain a clean and organised workspace.

12. No eating, drinking, running or unnecessary movement is allowed.

13. Unauthorised individuals are not permitted in the workshop.
