Safey in the Technical Workshops
No workshop practice is to be carried out without the presence of a Design and Technology teacher or instructor.
All students must wear aprons during workshop sessions.
Long hair should be tied back.
Students should not operate machines unless they have been instructed on their correct use.
Always use the safety guards or protective gear provided when using the machines.
Always use the right tool for the job and return the tool to its proper place after use. Maintain good housekeeping habits.
Do not use tools that are in poor condition and extreme care should be taken when handling sharp-pointed or sharp-edged tools.
All faulty tools and machines must be reported immediately. Do not use them.
Injuries, no matter how slight, should be given first aid treatment and reported to the teacher or instructor immediately.
Shirts with long sleeves, accessories and ties should not be worn during workshop sessions.
No eating or drinking is allowed in the workshop.
Do not run or walk unnecessarily in the workshop.
Unauthorised persons are not permitted in the workshop.
