HOMECOMING FLOAT RULES & DEADLINES
Revised 2018
The float may not exceed a height of 11 feet from the ground. This is because of the telephone wires on the parade route.
The float must adhere to the $200 budget, provided by class funds or donations.
3. Each class is responsible for finding their own flatbed trailer.
4. Floats must be completed and in the bus garage by 4:30 pm on Thursday. Floats cannot be worked on in the bus garage anytime before 3pm on Thursday. You may not work on floats in the bus garage beyond 4:30pm (garage doors close!)
5. Each class has from 3:00 – 4:30 pm to construct their float in the designated area on the school campus. Class advisors and one parent must be present at the above time. Floats must be completed and in the garage by 4:30 pm. 4:30 pm is the deadline! Doors will close at 4:30pm!
Subject to Change:
Seniors and Juniors will be in the student parking lot. Sophomore and Frosh will be in the staff parking lot (front of school). *Class officers must communicate with class advisors so everyone is informed of any changes and times.
6. Floats need to be removed and headed to the parade line-up by 3:45 pm.
7. Vandalism of another float will result in dismissal from the contest.
8. Class Advisors must walk alongside their respective class float during the entire parade and escort to the designated area near the football field. Please confirm with your class advisors about this expectation.
9. All floats must be removed from school property by Saturday noon. All float destruction must be cleaned up. Plan ahead with class advisors how all of this will be taken care of. Suggestion: take care of it on Friday night!
10. Judging time may vary depending on the year. Student council members will be advised prior. Participants must be on the float in order for it to be judged properly. Judges will be staff members. Attached are the criteria which floats will be judged.
11. An adult, not a student, must drive every float.
12. Floats must include the homecoming game’s opponent. Please do this in a tasteful manner, no “killing” words. If you’re unsure, ask your class advisor or the student council advisors. We do not want to encourage violent remarks.
13. STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MISS ANY CLASS IN ORDER TO WORK ON THE FLOAT!
NO CANDY MAY BE THROWN FROM THE FLOATS….IF YOU WANT TO DISTRIBUTE CANDY, WALKERS MUST HAND IT OUT TO CHILDREN.
