The third artifact, Student Support, focuses on how I as a librarian would help students work through research at an undergraduate level. As an academic librarian, or a research librarian, it is critical for me to support my students at every stage in the research process or workflow. Research process can be defined as a systematic method used to gather information and answer specific questions; the goal of using research processes like this is that the findings can be more credible, of a high-quality, and applicable to a broader context (Sreekumar, 2023).
This project, to me, illustrated that I do need to put more thought into the layers of research. I often treat research more like a conversation with structure led by the faculty or students. This artifact encouraged me to think critically about not only the research lifecycle, but how I can play an active role in student research. This project encouraged me to start the conversation with faculty and my fellow library staff on how we want to provide a more meaningful research platform, which has led to the creation of One Guide to Rule them All (embedded below), a research LibGuide that in theory will act as a one stop shop.Â
