During Tier 2, the goal is to provide teaching and time for students to master grade level standards. Many times, students are missing necessary prerequisite knowledge and skills. We gather assessment data, plan how we will assess growth and mastery, and then provide multiple learning opportunities for students who need time to master the critical grade level learning goals. We follow up with a post assessment to determine the learning and effectiveness of the intervention.
Tier 2 – Targeted Intervention
Based on grade level PLC discussions, work samples and assessment data, student is determined to be in need of more targeted intervention.
General Education Teacher should request a CIT meeting for Tier 2 review
Should a teacher need to review student data before the next scheduled campus meeting, he/she should request a meeting with the counselor/Administrator.
Be prepared to identify and provide CIT with student’s academic, behavior, language, physical, and/or social strengths and weaknesses; evidence of differentiated instruction, effective teaching strategies used to teach the student; and the student’s learning preferences when recommending student to Tier 2.
