Once the general education teacher has implemented the intervention plan with fidelity for the duration indicated, a follow-up meeting must be held in order to determine whether or not to return to Tier 1, continue Tier 2 or move to Tier 3 interventions.
Be sure you have implemented the intervention plan with fidelity
Have at least 4 data points entered in Branching Minds for progress monitoring towards a goal
Bring current grades, benchmarks, MAP data and any other academic data to review
For behavior concerns, bring any discipline referral data, Branching Minds Incident reports, counseling visits, etc. to review
Progress monitoring data indicates:
1. Goal maintained, continuous success is established (exit criteria reached) -> discontinue interventions, return student to Tier 1 and end PEIMS status in Skyward
2. Goal achieved, success is evident, but not yet maintained -> continue/revise current interventions
3. Goal not achieved, student is showing some response to intervention -> maintain current plan or modify some elements of the plan (goal, data collection method, etc.)
4. Little to no progress being made -> move to Tier 3 interventions
If progress monitoring indicates option 2 or 3 are necessary for the student, schedule a follow-up meeting to discuss progress. (At follow-up meeting, review options 1-4)
*If little to no progress is being made, and student is moved to Tier 3 interventions, the CIT committee must:
Complete Tier 3 Application
Determine Tier 3 goal for student
Develop plan that details specific interventions to address goal
Determine how progress will be monitored
Determine exit criteria
Schedule follow-up meeting
Share progress monitoring data with parent
If an intervention plan is still in place, continue to implement with fidelity
Note: If progress monitoring is not taking place, MTSS is not being done.
