Project Description: The classes begun by getting to know their international partners using a Google document where they shared thing about themselves including pictures of their daily life- like how they get to school and what they eat for breakfast. Then after creating inspirational slideshows of headlines, pictures and quotes of each of the 3 chosen UN Goals- No Poverty, Quality Education, & Good Health & Well Being-- they created a one minute monologue that includes a Call to Action or a Message of Hope. These monologues were then shared with their international partners who performed them, videoed them and shared back with the playwright.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Project Description: SDG #17 requires partnership across geographical distance to better abide by the SDG inspiration. Our respective students are building connections and growing awareness of the SDG and their ramifications in daily life. One way they are cultivating self-awareness is by creating surveys to be exchanged and answered around the use of social media by teenagers.

Project Description: Students are using their newly acquired Chinese language and cultural skills to engage with and get to know our partner students in Taiwan. They are also taking action to raise awareness about hunger in our local community and taking steps to combat hunger here in Fairfax County.

Project Description: Students are using Padlet to learn about hunger challenges within each of their communities and share ways to address this global issue.

Project Description: Students completed 3 days of trash log and created group trash data as they combined the individual data to create the average data of each category of trash. Then students created presentation to explains what they learned from collecting and analyzing their trash for 3 days. Student were asked to think about upcycling idea and reflected on their action plan for their responsible consumption and production.

Project Description: By taking civic actions, students practice what real citizens do when they try to solve a real problem and issue that matters to them. As a result, they are able to see how the content of a government course can apply to the real world. Also, by using web-based technology and working within teams students exercise important 21st century skills in digital literacy, critical thinking, collaboration, self-direction, and becoming informed and responsible citizens in a democracy.
