Want to act onstage in a theatrical production? Audition NOW for the fall play!
Casting begins after school on Monday August 31st.
Auditions are done separately online and must be submitted by 3pm Wednesday September 2nd to receive a role (submitting this form does not guarantee the part you want, but allows us to consider you for it).
All students interested in being part of the cast must attend the mandatory meeting Monday August 31st after school to turn in a contract and receive basic information regarding the production and important updates to the show contract. New members will also receive new member education via veteran drama club members and leadership immediately afterwards. YOUR HEADSHOT FOR THE PRODUCTION WILL BE TAKEN ON THIS DAY!
Complete the online Audition Application to be considered for the cast. In the form, you will upload your video audition and headshot. The Audition Application Submission deadline is Wednesday, September 2nd by 3pm. No extensions, no exceptions.
Choose a character in the play you are interested in auditioning for! Click HERE for a full list of character descriptions to choose a role that shows off your talents best.
Your audition should be a 60-90 second long DRAMATIC monologue. These can be found online or in resources available in the drama room (see script shelf!). The best monologues are those performed by characters similar to the one(s) you are auditioning for. Monologues performed must only have school-appropriate language and may be mildly edited for time limits.
Callbacks are Thursday September 3rd after school by invitation only. Check the Casting page on Wednesday to see if you were invited to the callback auditions. Not getting a callback does NOT mean you have not been cast. Some roles may be easier to cast than others.
The cast list posts Friday September 4th here on the production website after school. Only those who attended all required days and submitted materials on time (and correctly) can be added to the official cast list. Directors may also choose to host a final callback this day right after school for select individuals (as needed)
When recording your video audition, begin by slating (your full name, grade, and role you wish to be considered for).
Wait a second after your slate to ready yourself and then perform!
Be sure to adjust your share settings on your video if uploading from Google Drive. Change the default "Restricted" setting on the video to "BHS Staff." If the file size is too large, complete these same steps, then copy and paste the "shareable link" onto a blank Google Doc and upload the doc to the file upload section of the Audition Form.
Other tips
-Film standing up. We should be able to see from at least your chest & up, but full body is also perfectly okay. Move around to show us your ability to express physically.
-If you mess up, start over and only submit your best take.
-Practice and prepare EARLY. If you run into tech problems and cannot submit your audition because you waited until the last minute, we cannot guarantee you a role. Only those who submit correctly and on time will be considered for roles in this show.
